Frequently Asked Questions

As per the Factories Act, overtime must be paid at double the ordinary rate (2x) for work beyond 9 hours a day or 48 hours a week. However, many companies use 1.5x as a standard practice. The exact rate may vary by state and industry.

For overnight shifts (e.g., 10 PM to 6 AM), the calculator automatically adds 24 hours when the end time is less than start time. Many companies provide night shift allowance (typically 10-20% extra) for such shifts.

As per the Factories Act, no worker should work for more than 9 hours a day and 48 hours a week. Any work beyond this is considered overtime. Total work hours including overtime should not exceed 10.5 hours per day.
